Who the hell is Brownbetty?
Uh, well… that would be me. I’m Mari. I’m an almost-30 crafter in Raleigh, NC. In my day job, I help new businesses get started in a rural community. On my own time, I watch a lot of “crap” tv, knit, sew, try to get my little blog and etsy shop off the ground, bake, and snuggle with my boyfriend David. We live together in our cozy little townhouse with our dog Johnny “Cash”ius Clay.
I’ve been loving on BBC shows of late, particularly Doctor Who (always), Downton Abbey, Sherlock, and Being Human. I like to swear on occassion, nom on chocolate and Asian food, and read more blogs than is probably good for any one person.
In addition to all of that, I also care deeply about developing my personal style, advocating for fat acceptance, and meeting kindred spirits on the interwebs.
Here are some good “getting to know me” posts:
So what is Brownbetty Style?
Brownbetty Style is me, trying to channel my “making” impulses into potentially profitable avenues. This includes, but is not limited to: my Etsy shop (where I sell knitted goodies, knitting project bags, home decor, and other odds and ends), this blog (where I write about being crafty, baking, Doctor Who/BBC love, fashion and fat acceptance, indie entrepreneurship, pinterest, etc…), knitting lessons (want to learn? shoot me an email!), and style consulting (is your closet full of stuff you don’t like? I can help with that too!).
As with any creative person worth their salt, I reserve the right to omit or add to this list on a whim!
I think we’re kindred spirits… now what?
Awesome! I love new friends. Let’s connect some more! You can find me here:
